Associate Professor of Radiology and Radiological Science
Doris Lin received her BA in Chemistry from the University of Pennsylvania. She then pursued a joint MD-PhD degree at the Yale University School of Medicine, with graduate training in the neurosciences. Her dissertation was entitled "Characterization of Two Distinct Isoforms of the Inositol-1,4,5-Trisphosphate Receptor Expressed in HEK293 Cells." She completed a medical internship at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and a diagnostic radiology residency at New York Presbyterian Hospital-Cornell. After a two-year neuroradiology fellowship, she joined the faculty at Johns Hopkins.
An important aspect of her research involves incorporating her background in molecular biology into radiology. She intends to develop neuroimaging tools targeting cellular and molecular processes that are amenable to noninvasive in vivo imaging.
Her primary clinical interest lies in pediatric neuroimaging including congenital central nervous system malformation, metabolic disorders, and ischemic stroke in children. Currently, she is conducting clinical research that examines cerebral physiological changes in patients with Sturge-Weber disease using MR perfusion and MR spectroscopy. She is also involved in the evaluation of children with cerebral palsy using conventional MR technique and diffusion tensor imaging, assessment of metabolic effects of brain radiation, and classification of white matter disease in children. In addition, she is a member of the Vasculitis Clinical Research Consortium and engaged in the imaging outcome study of Takayasu’s arteritis.
