Individuals with intellectual, developmental and other disabilities face a range of forms of discrimination that negatively impacts their health and well-being. The faith community can play a key role in addressing the challenges experienced by this population.

What role do you play? What steps can we take as a community to overcome the challenges faced by individuals with intellectual, developmental and other disabilities, and their families? The goal of this forum is to bring together faith-based community leaders and engage them in a learning collaborative to:

  1. Increase their awareness of the challenges faced by individuals with intellectual, developmental and other disabilities.
  2. Understand how they can help address the challenges and stigma associated with mental illness and disability. 
  3. Learn how to better support and create a more inclusive and welcoming environment for individuals with disabilities and their families.
  4. Help identify those at risk and facilitate their referral to mental health services.
