KaleidoHOPE: A Healing Art Initiative of Kennedy Krieger Institute has brought creativity, color, and HOPE to the Institute’s healthcare and educational spaces. Launched in 2025 through the generosity of The Charles T Bauer Charitable Foundation, KaleidoHOPE has invited artists of all ages and backgrounds to donate artwork designed to uplift and inspire.
“With butterflies as the unifying symbol, representing transformation, inspiration, and HOPE, each piece has become part of a larger kaleidoscope of healing,” explains Deeannah Taylor, director of organizational initiatives. She adds that a group of butterflies is called a “kaleidoscope.” Together, these two ideas inspired the name KaleidoHOPE.
Hundreds of unique pieces have been contributed by the community, including individual works, school-team submissions, and collaborative art projects. Artwork spans a wide range of media, from painting and photography to mosaics, murals, mixed media, and fiber art, all of which center on themes of healing, comfort, and inspiration.
Today, these heartfelt creations bring comfort and joy to patients, students, families, staff members, and visitors, reminding us that, like butterflies, we can emerge stronger, brighter, and full of HOPE, says Elisa Delia, senior vice president and chief of staff.
