Dr. Amy Bastian is the chief science officer at Kennedy Krieger Institute, and the director of the Motion Analysis Laboratory. She is also a professor of neurology and neuroscience at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. She received her bachelor's degree from the University of Oklahoma and her doctorate from Washington University in St. Louis. Dr. Bastian's interests include understanding cerebellar function/dysfunction, locomotor learning mechanisms, motor learning, autism, and how to rehabilitate people with many types of neurological diseases. To address these issues, her group studies a variety of processes, ranging from visual perceptual to fundamental motor actions, including balance, arm/hand control, and walking.
