Dr. Chandi Patel is a licensed psychologist at the Child and Family Therapy Clinic at Kennedy Krieger Institute. She provides direct clinical care, supervises and trains post-doctoral fellows, and directs the clinic’s group therapy program.

Education

Dr. Patel received her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Kennesaw State University, her master’s degree in clinical psychology from East Tennessee State University and continued her education at the University of South Carolina, where she received her PhD in clinical-community psychology. She completed her doctoral internship at the University of Maryland School of Medicine and her post-doctoral fellowship at Kennedy Krieger Institute and The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. 

Dr. Patel specializes in the treatment of children and adolescents experiencing internalizing concerns, such as anxiety and depression, externalizing behaviors, including managing symptoms of ADHD and disruptive behaviors, and concerns related to family dynamics. She utilizes a family therapy framework to engage youth and caregivers and strengthen the home environment as a key component of treatment. Her clinical practice is grounded in evidence-based interventions, including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Functional Family Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Parent Management Training, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
