    May 11: F. M. Kirby Introductory Research Symposium: This symposium was held in Tilghman Hall on the campus of the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. The event was sponsored by the F.M. Kirby Research Center and Philips Medical Systems and was attended by 165 people. Sixteen talks were presented by internationally recognized leaders in brain imaging, and by researchers from the local community. 
    May 13: The F. M. Kirby Research Center for Functional Brain Imaging officially opens.

    December 20: Our first 3.0T MRI Scanner arrives at the Kirby Center.

    October 30: We host our F. M. Kirby Research Center Retreat, for faculty, staff, students, fellows, and associated investigators, at the Mount Washington Conference Center in Baltimore, MD.

    June 16: Publication of first human white matter atlas acquired in vivo: MRI Atlas of Human White Matter

    August 25: We ship out the 1.5T Scanner, and install a new 3.0T Scanner. The new 3.0T is called "MR1," and the older 3.0T is christened "MR2." 
     
  • 2009 
    April 14th: The 7T magnet ("MR3") becomes available for research. The first human in our new ultra-high-field scanner is Dr. Peter van Zijl. 
    May 13th: We celebrate our tenth-year anniversary, with cake and cookies from Terri Brawner and Ivana Kusevic. 
    May 18th: We launch the new version of the website, created by PhD student Issel Anne Lim.
