The Nutrition Clinic at Kennedy Krieger Institute takes an interdisciplinary approach to providing safe and effective methods for meeting the caloric, nutrient and fluid needs for our patients.

Nutritional care is provided to patients through inpatient, day treatment and outpatient settings. The practice is aimed at nutrition assessment, diagnosis, intervention and monitoring. Best practices are derived from current medical knowledge and available research. Individualized patient recommendations are made with family and interdisciplinary contributions. Education is provided to the families and the community healthcare providers to facilitate the developed nutrition care plan.

Primary Program Goals:

Nutritionists work within the interdisciplinary model to offer patients and their families safe and efficient methods of meeting calorie, nutrient and fluid requirements. Each child has his or her own individual goals for growth which are evaluated over time. Optimal nutrition promotes good health which allows each child to participate in the therapeutic, school and community settings.
