Who We Are
Kennedy Krieger’s Palliative Care Program offers specialized, supportive care for children, teens and young adults with serious health conditions. The goal of the program is to promote and enhance the best possible quality of life for patients and families facing serious illness.
Palliative care provides pain and symptom relief, emotional and spiritual support, advance care planning, and grief and bereavement support. It focuses on alleviating discomfort and stress related to illness, and on improving quality of life for patients and their families throughout the patient’s journey.
Our pediatric palliative care team collaborates with patients and families, along with their healthcare team, to support their goals, facilitate discussions about care options, assist with complex decision-making, and help determine the most appropriate treatment approach.
Who We Serve
Palliative care is for people of any age and at any stage of illness. The pediatric palliative care we offer is appropriate for neonates, infants, children, adolescents and young adults, and it can be provided along with other medical treatments. We work with patients and families to determine treatment approaches that align with their goals and values, and we support them as they cope with the challenges associated with serious illness.
