The occupational therapy department provides evaluation and treatment services to patients in the following Kennedy Krieger inpatient units:

Neurobehavioral Unit (NBU)

The Neurobehavioral Unit is a 16-bed inpatient unit that serves individuals with developmental disabilities who are self-injurious, aggressive and displaying other severe and highly treatment-resistant behavioral disorders. The program's treatment approach is data-based, intensive and unique in that it involves the integration of applied behavioral analysis and pharmacological interventions.

Pediatric Feeding Disorders Program

The Pediatric Feeding Disorder Program at Kennedy Krieger Institute treats the full spectrum of feeding disorders, from aggressive tantrums to vomiting during meal time. The program works with children with behavior-related feeding issues (including children with autism spectrum disorder) and those with medical issues that make eating or swallowing difficult.

Pediatric Rehabilitation Unit

The Pediatric Rehabilitation Unit provides comprehensive and interdisciplinary treatment, evaluation and follow-up services for patients with decreased function due to a variety of causes. The program offers 24-hour medical, nursing, and respiratory care, as well as intensive therapy services to meet the patient's needs and medical condition.
