At the Center for Development and Learning, our neurodevelopmental physicians, developmental and behavioral pediatricians, and nurse practitioners evaluate children for suspected developmental delays, learning difficulties and/or early behavioral disorders. We offer diagnostic evaluations, treatment and family support for toddlers and preschool- and school-aged children with a wide range of developmental and neurobehavioral conditions. We strive to identify children’s challenges as early as possible to provide early intervention strategies and treatment, which we know are key to their development and successes in the future.

The center’s team works closely with other disciplines at Kennedy Krieger Institute—including speech-language pathology, neuropsychology, behavioral psychology, child psychiatry, neurogenetics, genetic counseling and social work—on a case-by-case basis to ensure that each patient is comprehensively evaluated and receives the most appropriate treatment.

Some of the most common pediatric and adolescent conditions and diagnoses treated at the center include:

  • Global developmental delay
  • Language delays and disorders
  • Anxiety
  • Intellectual disability
  • Learning disorders
  • Social and emotional delays
  • Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)
