About

Dr. Kirsten Russo is a licensed psychologist with the Pediatric Psychology Consultation Program in the Department of Behavioral Psychology. She serves as a pediatric psychologist in Concussion Clinic and Sleep Disorders Clinic and Lab at Kennedy Krieger Institute and serves as a co-facilitator for the Comfort Ability Program Workshop. Additionally, she provides consultation/liaison services at Johns Hopkins Hospital providing inpatient behavioral psychology services to a broad variety of patient populations. Dr. Russo is also an assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.

Dr. Russo is a licensed psychologist in the state of Maryland, and provides training and supervision to doctoral interns and post-doctoral fellows in pediatric psychology.

Education

Dr. Russo received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and her Master of Arts in Psychology from the University of North Carolina Wilmington.  She earned her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Louisville. She completed her pre-doctoral internship in pediatric psychology at Indiana University School of Medicine/Riley Hospital For Children in Indianapolis, IN. She completed her post-doctoral fellowship training in the Anxiety Program at Children’s National Hospital in Washington, DC. 

Dr. Russo is a professional member of the Society for Pediatric Psychology (SPP) including the Sports Medicine and Orthopedics Special Interest Group and Sleep Special Interest Group. 

Research Summary

Dr. Russo’s clinical and research interests focus on the assessment and treatment of youth with acute and chronic medical conditions.  Special interests and training include brain injury/concussion, behavioral sleep, chronic pain, and pediatric anxiety.
