About
Jennifer Roth is a board certified pediatric nurse practitioner at the International Center for Spinal Cord Injury at Kennedy Krieger Institute. She provides care to children and adolescents in the outpatient clinic, as well as consultation in the inpatient setting. She has a broad background in nursing and has provided care in a variety of settings, including positions as a staff nurse at the Johns Hopkins Children’s Center in the PICU and PACU departments, and as a nurse practitioner with outpatient pediatric urology, pediatric feeding disorder clinic and inpatient and outpatient pediatric rehabilitation.
Education
Roth initially received a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Gettysburg College and a Master of Science in Biology (molecular biology concentration) from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County while working as a teaching assistant in genetics, cellular and molecular biology, and physiology.
Wanting a more clinical focus, she then pursued a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing and continued her education at the University of Maryland School of Nursing receiving a Master of Science in Nursing a Pediatric Primary Care Nurse Practitioner.
Research
Prior to becoming a nurse, Roth participated in laboratory research at the University of Maryland Medical School (pediatric hematology/oncology) and UMBC (Master’s thesis- cloning and expressing pinniped photopigments). As a nurse she has participated in clinical quality improvement projects in the JHH PACU (including creation and implementation of evidence based sensory friendly protocol in the peri-operative setting) and participation in formulation and execution of quality improvement projects in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. Research interests include utilization of evidence-based practice to improve patient care outcomes.
