Research Summary

Dr. Love’s research focuses on the neuropsychological functioning of bilingual (English/Spanish) children and adolescents with medical and neurodevelopmental conditions, with particular emphasis on epilepsy and spina bifida, which disproportionately affect Hispanic and Latino populations. Her work examines how health-related social needs, neighborhood resources, language access, and healthcare system factors influence neuropsychological outcomes, adaptive functioning, and engagement in care.

In addition to clinical outcomes research, Dr. Love is actively engaged in quality improvement and implementation-focused research aimed at improving healthcare access for individuals with limited English proficiency. This includes studies evaluating language access services, interpreter-mediated care, telehealth accessibility, and system-level interventions designed to improve health outcomes in pediatric specialty care. She also has scholarly interests in workforce development, recruitment and retention of the next generation of neuropsychologists, and the translation of clinical expertise into legislative advocacy to promote health for all.

Dr. Love collaborates on multidisciplinary research initiatives within Kennedy Krieger Institute and Johns Hopkins Medicine and has contributed to studies examining adaptive functioning, telehealth access, and neighborhood-level resources. Her scholarship integrates clinical neuropsychology, public health, and health policy perspectives.
