The Community and Professional Development Training Program offered by the Maryland Center for Developmental Disabilities (MCDD) at Kennedy Krieger Institute is committed to providing evidence-based training across a broad spectrum of topics to improve quality of life for people with disabilities and their families. The MCDD’s 2026 Annual Learning Series runs from February to October. The series consists of virtual continuing education workshops (CEUs available), each three hours in length, with interdisciplinary topics focused on working with individuals with intellectual, developmental and other disabilities, and their families.

Eleven workshops in the series remain open for registration:

  • May 6: “Understanding Neuropsychological Assessment and Developmental Disorders: Assessment and Treatment Considerations”
  • June 10: “Diverse Pathways to Inclusion and Support for College Students with Autism and Intellectual Disabilities”
  • June 18: “Grief and Loss: Guiding and Supporting Individuals with Intellectual, Developmental and Other Disabilities Through the Experience”
  • June 24: “Helping Children in the Midst of a Crisis: Protecting Children’s Health in Disasters”
  • July 8: “Building Safe and Positive Online Experiences for Individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities”
  • July 22: “Special Education Law and Transition Planning for Students with Disabilities”
  • Sept. 17: “When Trauma and Neurodiversity Intersect: Trauma-Informed Strategies for Individuals with Developmental Disabilities”
  • Sept. 30: “Supported Decision-Making as an Alternative to Guardianship”
  • Oct. 15: “Cultural Humility and Building Stronger Connections Across Backgrounds: Applying the Family-as-Host Model for Responsive and Respectful Engagement”
  • Oct. 21: “Navigating Social Security Administration (SSA) Disability Benefits: What Providers and Beneficiaries Need to Know”
