About
Dr. Anthony Gioia is a licensed pediatric neuropsychologist in the Center for Neuropsychological and Psychological Assessment (CNaP) at Kennedy Krieger Institute. He provides neuropsychological evaluations for individuals ranging from infant and toddler age to young adults with neurodevelopmental and medical conditions that affect cognitive functioning, primarily through the Oncology and Brain Injury clinics. He also provides neuropsychological services through the Infant Neurodevelopment Center.
Education
Dr. Gioia received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. He received his doctorate degree from University of Houston in the Clinical Psychology program with a Major Area of Study in Neuropsychology. Dr. Gioia completed an APA-accredited internship in pediatric neuropsychology at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Following internship, he completed a two-year pediatric neuropsychology fellowship at Kennedy Krieger Institute/Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.
Research
Dr. Gioia’s research has focused on neuropsychological outcomes of children diagnosed with pediatric acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), brain tumors, and neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1). During fellowship and continuing as staff at Kennedy Krieger, his research interests have primarily focused on social determinants of health (SDoH) and the relation to neuropsychological outcomes in the pediatric oncology population.
