Kadee D. Atkinson serves as a Program Manager for The Center for Diversity in Public Health Leadership Training and The Office of Health, Equity, Inclusion & Diversity (OHEID) at Kennedy Krieger Institute. Dr. Atkinson is primarily responsible for the implementation and management of the Excellence in Mentoring UnderRepresented Groups (EMURG) for Health Equity Leaders Fellowship.
Dr. Atkinson earned an MSW and PhD in Social Work from Howard University and a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Family and Child Sciences from the Florida State University. Dr. Atkinson is a former Ferguson Emerging Infectious Diseases Research Initiatives for Student Enhancement (RISE) fellow and her primary research interests include women’s issues, mental health, adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), and trauma. She completed a Research Assistantship at the National Institute of Justice (NIJ) at the U.S. Department of Justice Office of Justice Programs. Dr. Atkinson is a licensed graduate social worker and served as a Drug Abuse Treatment Specialist for the Department of Justice. Dr. Atkinson serves as an adjunct professor for the Howard University School of Social Work and has experience teaching graduate courses in practice and program evaluation, data analysis and statistics, and advanced social work research. She values evidence-based practice and the lived experiences of her students.
