In light of these challenging times, we thought this would be the perfect opportunity to honor the contributions of the Women's Initiative Network (WIN) for Kennedy Krieger Institute and its members over the years. WIN was created in 2009 to mobilize powerful and passionate women to make an impact on Kennedy Krieger through volunteerism and advocacy. Since then, this group has evolved tremendously and over the next few months we would like to highlight a few members and their critical contributions of time and talent to the Institute.

When our country was last experiencing difficult times, due to the 2008 recession, Lainy LeBow-Sachs, then-senior vice president of external relations for the Institute, knew that there were many women who were interested in giving back in an important way. Pulling from her personal and professional contacts, Lainy created the genesis for WIN.

Lainy brought Judi Fader, Brenda Jews, Laurie Luskin and Jill Miller together to start the discussion. Out of many brainstorming sessions, WIN was born.

Their first event was a lunch gathering in October 2009 at Judi's home. There, guests learned about WIN and assembled welcome bags for the families of inpatients at Kennedy Krieger. Judi and the other three initial leaders went on to serve as the flagship team to begin WIN's wonderful journey of volunteerism.
