Project ECHO® (Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes) seeks to:

  • Share knowledge so that community members in underserved communities can receive high-quality care/services
  • Improve workforce capacity
  • Improve access to specialized care and treatment
  • Improve access to multidisciplinary care
  • Share best practices

Project ECHO: Kennedy Krieger Institute

Project ECHO is a revolutionary guided-practice model that reduces health disparities in underserved and remote areas of the state, nation and world. Through innovative telementoring, the ECHO model uses a hub-and-spoke knowledge-sharing approach where expert teams lead virtual clinics, amplifying the capacity for providers to deliver best-in-practice care to the underserved in their own communities.

ECHO programs at Kennedy Krieger Institute meet for regularly scheduled sessions, usually weekly or biweekly. Sessions include a brief didactic presentation by an expert and discussion of de-identified patient cases.

Why ECHO?

In the U.S. and around the world, people are not getting access to the specialty care they need, when they need it, for complex and treatable conditions.

The mission of Project ECHO is to democratize knowledge and get best practice care to underserved people all over the world. Project ECHO does this by sharing knowledge and best practices, improving access to specialized care and multidisciplinary care and improving workforce capacity.
