Organic Acid Profile
Organic acids are products of metabolic pathways, and their levels in blood and urine can identify nutrient deficiencies that lead to disease or dysfunction. Most commonly, organic acid levels are used for detection of neonatal inborn errors of metabolism, including mitochondrial disorders. Organic acid testing can also provide information regarding vitamin and mineral insufficiencies, oxidative stress, neurotransmitter metabolism and detoxification assessment.
