Fatty acids are the structural backbone of complex lipids and thus are essential for membrane competency and cell-cell signaling. Fatty acids are also essential to the energetic balance of an organism. Genetic metabolic disorders, central and peripheral nervous system disorders, cancer, cardiovascular disease, and nutritional deficiencies have been associated with fatty acid disregulation.
We measure Very Long Chain Fatty Acids, Branched Chain Fatty Acids, and relevant ratios. Our Total Lipid Fatty Acid Profile using plasma, serum or red blood cells includes a panel of C10 to C30 saturated, monounsaturated, polyunsaturated, essential, trans, branched chain fatty acids, plasmalogens (red cells only) and the triene/tetraene ratio. We also provide comparisons of various classes of fatty acids such as omega-6 fatty acids and omega-3 fatty acids.
