Rehabilitation is a cornerstone of everything we do at Kennedy Krieger Institute. Founded in 1937 as the Children's Rehabilitation Institute, Kennedy Krieger is an international resource with a strong tradition of providing comprehensive rehabilitation services for children and young adults with disorders of the brain, spinal cord and musculoskeletal system. Depending on a patient's needs, we offer patient care in a variety of settings through our Rehabilitation Continuum of Care for children with both acute and chronic rehabilitation needs. Areas of Specialization include:

Inpatient Programs:

The Pediatric Rehabilitation Unit provides comprehensive and interdisciplinary treatment, evaluation, and follow-up services, including 24-hour medical, nursing, and respiratory care, and intensive therapy services for patients with decreased function due to a variety of causes, including:

  • Brain injury
  • Spinal cord injury
  • Chronic pain
  • Complex medical conditions
  • Orthopedic surgery
