This presentation will provide an overview of the steps the Montgomery County Department of Police have taken to ensure positive, effective interactions between law enforcement and the Autism/Intellectual and Developmental Disability (IDD) communities.
Attendees will be provided safety informational tools they can pass on to those they serve, and will leave with an increased understanding of the dynamics of Law Enforcement and the Autism/IDD communities.

Officer Reyes is the Montgomery County Police Autism/IDD Outreach Program Coordinator. She has been a police officer with Montgomery County since 1997. In 2004 she brought the Project Lifesaver tracking program to Montgomery County, an outreach program dedicated to educating law enforcement and community members on the dynamics of interacting with those who have Autism/IDD.
