Meet Marcel, a 2-year old spinal cord injury patient from Hawthorne, New Jersey.
Marcel was born with Down syndrome who was diagnosed with transverse myelitis after becoming paralyzed from the waist down. Marcel receiving interdisciplinary care as an inpatient, who eventually transitioned to our outpatient therapy. Marcel has made incredible progress through the Institute’s activity based restorative therapy program and is now able to stand on his own and walk with assistance.
With more than 20 locations located in Maryland, the non-profit Kennedy Krieger Institute has been providing specialized research, education and healthcare services to children and families for more than 80 years.
