Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Research Center (IDDRC)

The Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Research Center (IDDRC) at the Kennedy Krieger Institute and Johns Hopkins University features interdisciplinary collaboration and a central theme, brain mechanisms whereby genotypes result in specific cognitive and behavioral phenotypes of intellectual disability or developmental disability. The IDDRC consists of an administrative core (Core A) and four research cores (Cores B, C, E, and F).

Michael F. Cataldo, Ph.D., Director IDDRC, P.I. Core A (Administrative)
Core A provides overall management and organizational support to the Center, operates the educational component (lectures and seminars) and links users to biostatistical services.

George H. Thomas, Ph.D., P.I. Core B (Genetics)
Core B provides centralized tissue culture, amino acid/organic acid analyses, standard and molecular cytogenetics, specialized molecular genetics (DNA and RNA analyses) and bioinformatics.

Michael V. Johnston, M.D., P.I. Core C (Neuroscience)
Core C provides synaptic neurochemistry (focusing on histology imaging and high performance liquid chromatography) and lipid biochemistry (including general mass spectrometry services).

Michael A. Kraut, M.D., Ph.D., P.I. Core E (Neuroimaging)
Core E provides for acquisition and quantitative analysis of data derived from functional, morphometric, and spectroscopic and diffusion MR imaging and positron emission tomography and …

Michael F. Cataldo, Ph.D., P.I. Core F (Behavior Science)
Core F offers training of subjects for cooperation with research protocols, selection and administration of standardized tests (developmental, cognitive and functional), direct observations of behavior, and design of activation-weighted paradigms for fMRI.
