About The Event

Participants will learn about various forms of psychotropic medication used to treat mental health diagnoses, short term and long term effects of medication, and medication effectiveness. Psychiatrists from the Institute will provide their knowledge and expertise, and they will be open to answering participants’ questions.

About The Event

Participants will gain an understanding of the process of a “teaching” hospital. The presenters will explain in detail the needed documentation for all medical appointments and navigating the process for medical and psychiatric hospitalizations.

The Permanency Support Group is a monthly group that provides foster, adoptive and respite parents with a forum for sharing their experience, thoughts, and feelings about addressing the permanency needs of the children and youth in their care, including, but not limited to, adoption. The group also provides parents with information and encouragement as they share challenges and celebrate success.

For parents with transition aged youth; other parents are welcome to attend. The Foster Parent Support Group provides foster and respite parents with an opportunity to meet together to discuss and find support around a broad range of topics. Topics include discussion of issues related to child development, attachment disorders, ADHD, educational placements and behavior issues, to name just a few.

This training will discuss how the Transition Planning Assessment is used to enhance youths’ life skill development, build upon their social support network, recognize the individual’s strengths and identify areas of needs. Participants will also learn about strategies and resources that can be accessed as youth prepare for aging out of the foster care system.

About The Event

This training is geared toward the IFC (Individual Family Care) clients who are served by DDA (Developmental Disabilities Administration) Participants will learn how to maintain the individual rights of the client’s in their home and involve clients in assessing their own needs and wishes to be developed into meaningful and attainable goals. Participants will learn how to keep goals person-centered to maintain the client’s individual wishes.

About The Event

This is a mandatory event that is taking the place of the annual Town hall meeting. The retreat will include fun games, team building activities, and relaxation exercises. The retreat will give treatment parents an opportunity to build cohesiveness with staff and each other, as well as establish relationships with new parents.
