  • Transitioning Youth Applications (individuals seeking an adult provider post high school, application receive during the applicant’s final year of school) will be reviewed biannually in December and August, with respective application deadlines of November 31st and June 30th.
  • Project SEARCH Applications will be due March 31st with admissions decisions made in May.
  • Transfer Applications (individuals presently receiving services looking to switch to a new adult service provider) will be reviewed and considered based on current program and staffing availability in your area.

The CORE Foundations at Kennedy Krieger Institute admission and compliance team will confirm receiving your application and request additional information and documentation, if needed, within 5 businesses day of submission of your application.

After an initial review of your application, if the admissions team deems appropriate, the team will process your application to next steps of the application process which will include the following steps: 

  • Application Questionnaire
  • Recommendation Forms
  • Video Submission
  • Community-based Observation by a member of the CORE Foundations Team

The application process from start to admissions decision could take up to 6 months to complete, or longer depending on when your application has been submitted.

If the applicant is accepted into programming, a tentative start date will be determined up to 6 months to a year from acceptance. Start dates are contingent on a secured funding source (Developmental Disabilities Administration, Division of Rehabilitation Services, or Private Pay), as well as available staffing to accommodate your requested services.

CORE Foundations Informational Meetings

If you are interested in having CORE Foundations as your DDA Provider, please join us to meet the CORE Foundations team, learn about our program, and have an opportunity to ask questions you may have. Please note that attending an information meeting is mandatory as part of the application process. All applications must be completed in entirety in order for your application to be considered.

Transition Consultation

Transition Consultation provides education and training to increase individuals, families, and professionals’ knowledge and understanding of service delivery, funding systems, eligibility, application process, and navigate the transition from school to adult services. This supports individuals to make informed decisions about their future. 

Neurodiversity at Work is offering fee based Transition Consultation service to support your transition from school to adult services. Complete our transition consultation form and a member of our team will contact you in 7-10 business days.

CORE Foundations at Kennedy Krieger Institute

Meaningful Community Services programs provide person-centered services that inspire personal growth, promote meaningful relationships, and empower people with disabilities to achieve independence at their home, workplace, and community.

CORE Foundations provides individuals of all abilities with the opportunity and education to continue developing core skills that are the foundation for a successful adult life. We create a customized program in partnership with each individual to support their independence. The person-centered approach requires an individualized plan, a daily schedule and goals. CORE Foundations is a certified and licensed Developmental Disabilities Administration adult provider for the state of Maryland and a community-based program serving 7 Maryland counties. CORE Foundations also provides employment services through the Division of Rehabilitation Services (DORS).

*Applications for 2022 Transitioning Youth will be accepted until May 1, 2022 with a projected start date, if enrolled, between January and June 2023.

Project SEARCH at Kennedy Krieger Institute

Project SEARCH is a 10-month, transition to work program that provides hands-on job training through integrated worksite rotations, career exploration, innovative adaptations, and mentoring from experienced staff at Kennedy Krieger Institute. The ultimate goal upon program completion is meaningful competitive integrated employment. This real-life work experience combined with training in employability and independent living skills helps individuals with disabilities make successful transitions to a productive adult life.
