Patient attitudes toward informed consent regarding incidental findings in whole exome sequencing

Principal Investigator:
S. Ali

The objective of this study is to assess the association between school-based transition planning and health care transition planning for youth with special healthcare needs (YSHCN). The 2011 Maryland Youth Transition Survey, conducted in 2012, will be used to perform a cross-sectional analysis investigating this association. Logistic regression models will be used. Data was provided by the Maryland State Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, Office for Genetics and People with Special Health Care Needs in an excel spreadsheet.

Participants filled out the surveys anonymously. The data received from the State of MD included zip codes. Upon receipt the zip codes were deleted and the spreadsheet saved as an original file received. The new file saved contains no identifiable data; the data was then transferred to STATA for analysis as noted. The file with zip codes (identifiers) received from the State of MD has been deleted.
