A Comprehensive Approach to Intervention for Toddlers at Risk for ASD

Principal Investigator:

Research questions are:

  1. What are early intervention effects on developmental trajectory and autism symptoms in 14- to 22-month-olds with social and communication delays that indicate high risk for Autism Spectrum Disorders?
  2. What are early intervention effects on parents of children showing signs of high risk for ASD?
  3. What are predictors of treatment response?

These research questions will be addressed by enrolling eligible children in a 6-month intervention that targets a comprehensive range of developmental functions, emphasizing skills that are characteristically impaired in young children with ASD (e.g., social orienting, joint attention, spontaneous imitation, affective reciprocity, receptive and expressive language, initiation of social communication intents, play).
