Accessing Outcomes of SMART:Safety Mentoring Advocacy Recovery and Treatment Model

Principal Investigator:
Harolyn
Belcher

This is a study of children evaluated and treated using the SMART Model at the Center for Child and Family Traumatic Stress at Kennedy Krieger Institute.

The Center for Child and Family Traumatic Stress provides trauma and evidence-informed mental health services for children exposed to adverse childhood experiences. ACE includes family (i.e., child physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, and neglect and parental risk factors) and community trauma.

This study will focus on the Safety Mentoring Advocacy Recovery and Treatment (SMART) intervention, a model that treats children with a history of sexual abuse who exhibit sexualized behaviors. Services provided include individual, group, and family therapy. Comparisons of baseline and sequential follow-up behavior outcomes will be analyzed in models adjusted for demographic, ACE, diagnoses, parental risk factors, medications, length of treatment, treatment compliance, etc.
