February 2018: Supination Continued

Overview l Inspiring Stories l Summer Camp l Publications l Helping Hands Blog

This post is a continuation of our series intended to help with supination, the turning of the hand so that the palm is up.

Supination Activity Ideas:

  • Play in a sand box/water table and ask your child to work on scooping and pouring with each hand as they “catch”the sand or water with the affected hand palm up.
  • Take your child to a swingset. Have them hold the chains on a swing while swinging.
  • Get your child to improve their supination while playing music! Many musical instruments, including cymbals and wood blocks, will require your child to supinate both of their hands while playing them
  • Have your child aarry a beach ball or large balloon, with focus on keeping both palms on the ball.
  • Blow kisses with your child, making sure they focus on having the palm of their hand contact their lips
  • Play cards with your child and have them work on flipping cards over
