Dr. Thomas Ley is a psychologist in the Department of Neuropsychology at the Kennedy Krieger Institute. He is also a part-time instructor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.

Biographical Sketch: 

Dr. Ley received his bachelor's of science in psychology from the University of Maryland, College Park in 1974. His graduate training included both clinical and school psychology, receiving his master's of arts in clinical psychology from Roosevelt University in 1978, and his Ph.D. in school psychology from Howard University in 1983. Dr. Ley completed two internships, one in school/clinical child psychology at the Kennedy Krieger Institute, and the other in clinical psychology with adult in-patient populations at Mercy Catholic Medical Center in Philadelphia, PA.

Dr. Ley has been a licensed psychologist in Maryland since 1986. Prior to returning to the Kennedy Krieger Institute in 1991, initially as the senior psychologist at the Center for Development and Learning (CDL), he worked in a public school setting, a community mental health center and in private practice. Dr. Ley is active in the training program at the institute, supervising post-doctoral psychology residents in the developmental disabilities program and serving as coordinator of the selection committee for these positions. He is also a participating faculty member in a weekly case conference designed for interdisciplinary training of postdoctoral psychology and medical fellows, psychiatry residents and speech-language clinical fellows. Additionally, Dr. Ley coordinates a weekly professional development seminar for post-doctoral and pre-doctoral psychology trainees. In 1995, he and the supervisor of outpatient educational services in the CDL established the College Clinic. This program provides diagnostic evaluations and intervention strategies geared for older high school and college-aged students diagnosed primarily with ADHD and/or learning disabilities.

Dr. Ley's clinical work includes evaluation of children, adolescents and adults with a wide range of difficulties that include ADHD, learning disabilities, behavioral/emotional problems, and other developmental disabilities. He has a particular interest in ADHD and learning disabilities.
