Ms. Wheelchair America to Visit Kennedy Krieger Institute

Juliette Rizzo, Ms. Wheelchair America, empowers Americans with disabilities by sharing her experiences
WHAT: Ms. Wheelchair America, Juliette Rizzo, will tour Baltimore's Kennedy Krieger Institute. The mission of Ms. Wheelchair America is to identify women of achievement who utilize wheelchairs and empower them to successfully educate and advocate for individuals with disabilities.

Kennedy Krieger Institute is an internationally recognized facility dedicated to improving the lives of children and adolescents with pediatric developmental disabilities through patient care, special education, research, and professional training.

Ms. Rizzo's tour will include visits to Krieger's research labs, inpatient unit, physical and occupational therapy units, and Child Life. She will also visit the educational programs at KKI's Fairmount campus, and participate in an assembly with students from Kennedy Krieger's Lower/Middle School.

WHEN: Wednesday, July 13th, 2005
9:00 a.m. Tour Begins at KKI on Broadway
10:30 a.m. Assembly with school students at Fairmount Campus
11:15 a.m. Tour of Fairmount Campus
Noon Visit Concludes

Kennedy Krieger's Fairmount Campus, 1750 East Fairmount Avenue
WHO: Juliette Rizzo, Ms. Wheelchair America, is from Rockville, Maryland and held the title of Ms. Wheelchair Maryland. Currently, a Special Assistant for Communications in the Office of the Secretary in the Department of Education, Juliette holds a Master of Journalism degree, Juliette empowers Americans with disabilities by sharing her experiences with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, scleroderma and fibromyalgia through her platform "Power through Participation: Illuminating Opportunities for People with Disabilities."
