Special Needs Planning - Caring for All of Your Family Members

Understanding special needs planning. This presentation is designed to educate people on the planning process. Learn how to begin the development and integration of a traditional financial plan with special needs life plans. Participants will obtain tips to assist with special needs planning, develop a greater understanding of legal needs and issues and learn steps to preserve government benefits. Proper planning can provide caregivers peace of mind in knowing loved ones will be cared for as they grow into adulthood.

Presenters: James W. Curran, III, CFP® and Monty Knittle, CFA®

James W. Curran, III, CFP® is a Managing Director, for Harbor Investment Advisory and has been advising clients since 1985. He is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® and Retirement Planning Specialist. Additionally, he served for ten years as the municipal bond coordinator. Reliability is important to Jim, and he is proud to have been with Morgan Stanley for the past 26 years. Jim’s client relationships are typically maintained for decades and often carry over generations. Jim advises retirees, affluent families, pension funds, and local corporations. Jim is a life long resident of the Baltimore area, and he and his wife, Andrea live in Ruxton with their two children.

Monty Knittle, CFA® is a Vice President and Portfolio Manager with Harbor Investment Advisory and has been advising clients since 2000. Monty began his career in financial services in 1999 as an Associate Analyst to the Chief Market Strategist for Legg Mason. Prior to joining Morgan Stanley in 2011, Monty worked in institutional portfolio management from 2000 to 2010, responsible for investment management of more than $500 million in assets under management. Monty earned an MBA with honors from the Sellinger School of Business at Loyola University in 1999. In 2003, Monty was awarded the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation. Monty lives in Timonium with his wife Libby and their two children.
