MCDD Announces 2 New Strategic Partnerships

The Maryland Center for Developmental Disabilities (MCDD) is pleased to announce two new partnerships, one with the Interactive Autism Network (IAN) at Kennedy Krieger Institute, and one with The Hilltop Institute at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. Legal Planning Workshop Provides Free Help to Young Adults and Families

The Maryland Center for Developmental Disabilities (MCDD), in partnership with the University of Baltimore (UB) School of Law, hosted a legal planning seminar on March 9 for young adults with disabilities and their families. Read more

The 2016 Hospital Charitable Services Awards

The Maryland Center for Developmental Disabilities’ Resource Finder was among 26 hospital-sponsored community health programs selected as finalists for the 2016 Hospital Charitable Services Awards, presented by Jackson Healthcare.

Spring Internships with MCDD

Victoria Abel, a junior at Baltimore’s City Neighbors High School, returned for a second-semester internship with Project HEAL (Health, Education, Advocacy and Law), a medical-legal partnership at the Maryland Center for Developmental Disabilities (MCDD). Victoria is working five hours a week for 10 weeks. She has a twin sibling with an intellectual disability, and she hopes to work in the field of special education in the future. Read more →


Community Partner News

Disability Law Enforcement Training Update

The Maryland Center for Developmental Disabilities (MCDD)—together with partners People On the Go of Maryland (POG), Pathfinders for Autism and The Arc Maryland—has trained 196 law enforcement officers since the beginning of March as part of the Saylor Alliance. Fifteen individuals with disabilities were recruited from around the state to serve as law enforcement trainers. More than 50 candidates applied for trainer positions. Read more →

Record Number of Attendees at 2017 DD Day

Representatives from the Maryland Center for Developmental Disabilities (MCDD) and People On the Go of Maryland (POG) traveled to Annapolis on Feb. 23 to meet with local and state legislators as part of the legislature’s Developmental Disabilities (DD) Day, an annual event attracting disability advocates from around the state. A record number of 725 people attended the event this year. Read more →
