MCDD Director Chris Smith Shares Data Management Expertise at Social Solutions Conference

Maryland Center for Developmental Disabilities (MCDD) Director Chris Smith, PhD, gave a three-hour presentation on using data management systems effectively in a keynote address at Superhero Summit 2016 in Baltimore.

The Sept. 14 event, organized by Social Solutions, a provider of outcomes management software for more than 1,000 human service organizations, attracted more than 30 nonprofit organizational leaders from across the country. MCDD uses Social Solutions’ software product CTK Apricot to manage its data across all projects and to streamline its annual federal reporting process.

Chris Smith, director of the Maryland Center for Developmental Disabilities, assists attendees from a wide range of nonprofit and human services organizations on Sept. 14.

Dr. Smith drew from real-life examples to show how data systems can be used as part of an ongoing organizational effort to improve an agency’s efforts to investigate and measure outcomes, a common challenge for nonprofits. After the conference, he committed himself to providing one-on-one technical support and consultation to several attendees.

In addition to his work at MCDD, Dr. Smith has served as an investigator for a number of technical assistance, training, evaluation, and continuous quality improvement projects, including projects serving consumers with developmental disabilities, as well as projects serving early childhood, community action, after-school, and mental health programs. Dr. Smith has also served as a consultant to schools on the implementation and evaluation of school-wide projects, and he has published articles related to continuous systems-level assessment and evaluation.
