High School Student Volunteers with Project HEAL

Victoria Able, a junior at City Neighbors High School in Baltimore, joins Project HEAL (Health, Education, Advocacy, and Law), Maryland’s only medical-legal partnership, for 10 weeks as a volunteer during the 2016-2017 school year.

Victoria is a busy teenager interested in education and helping people from all walks of life have a voice. In addition to her work with Project HEAL, she is a leadership member of Best Buddies at her school. On Oct. 25, she and her buddies spoke to third- and fourth-grade students at City Neighbors High School about the problem of students with intellectual and developmental disabilities being bullied. Victoria has a brother with an intellectual disability and has seen, firsthand, the power of her parents’ advocacy to ensure that he receives the support necessary for his success in life.
