Awards

Project HEAL (Health, Education, Advocacy and Law), through its signature pro bono partnership with the Baltimore-based law firm of Ober|Kaler, received national recognition from the American Health Lawyers Association (AHLA). AHLA launched the Pro Bono Champions program to honor AHLA members who have contributed at least fifty hours per year to pro bono work in the health care field. Project HEAL provided Ober|Kaler with a variety of legal cases, including special education matters, appeals of SSI denials, guardianship, and estate planning. Ten attorneys collectively provided more than 400 hours of pro bono service to low-income Project HEAL families. The pro bono partnership is coordinated by Victoria Sulerzyski, an associate with Ober|Kaler and a member of the MCDD’s Community Advisory Council.
