Letter from Our President - Fall 2012

November 2, 2012

Dr. Gary GoldsteinAt Kennedy Krieger Institute, we are inspired every day by children and adolescents who have the will to succeed, despite seemingly insurmountable circumstances. When 12-year-old Matthew Slattery emerged from a coma after a horrific car accident that left him with a traumatic brain injury, he could barely lift his finger.

Dr. Gary GoldsteinAt Kennedy Krieger Institute, we do far more than treat patients -- through our research, patient care, professional training, and community involvement, we strive to improve the lives of the patients, students, and families we serve.

Letter From Our President

Gary W. Goldstein, MDThe Kennedy Krieger Institute could never provide our patients with our remarkable array of successful, innovative programs without the hard work and dedication of the many talented professionals who work here. Gary W. Goldstein, MDAt the Kennedy Krieger Institute, innovation drives the care we provide our patients. Letter From Our President

Gary W. Goldstein, MDThe understanding and treatment of developmental disabilities have come a long way over the past century. As we reflect on the last 70 years since the founding of the Kennedy Krieger Institute, the past is not always bright, but there are people and moments that stand out as beacons of progress. President John F.

President's Message

Gary W. Goldstein, MDThe development of language skills is an integral part of a child's ability to forge bonds with others. But between 10 and 30 percent of children develop speech and/or language delays. Left untreated, these delays can compromise a child's social, academic and behavioral skills. But when these delays are identified early and proper interventions are applied, children can make remarkable progress.

President's Message

Gary W. Goldstein, MDSpring is a time for growth and maturity. With love, patience and ample nurturing, children with special needs can fulfill their possibility. At Kennedy Krieger Institute, the seeds for success are planted all year around, so that children may bloom into self-assured, self-loving individuals.
