About The Event

Participants will gain an understanding of how sexual trauma affects children, and they will learn age-appropriate strategies to deal with sexualized behaviors. Participants will gain knowledge of the various specialized clinics and treatment that address sexualized behavior offered through the Kennedy Krieger Institute Family Center.

About The Event

Participants will develop an understanding of the use of both the cognitive triangle and therapeutic listening in helping children to regulate their trauma-related symptoms. Participants will also learn and utilize relaxation techniques to develop self-regulation skills.

The Permanency Support Group is a monthly group that provides foster, adoptive and respite parents with a forum for sharing their experience, thoughts, and feelings about addressing the permanency needs of the children and youth in their care, including, but not limited to, adoption. The group also provides parents with information and encouragement as they share challenges and celebrate success.

About The Event

Respite is a support service that is offered to all TFC parents and children. This training will review policies of respite, as well as outline the importance of respite to the family. Participants will also review the process required for approval of a child-specific respite provider for each foster family.

Surviving the Late Day Crunch: Healthy Dinners for a Busy Family. Participants will discuss the parent-child feeding relationship, the importance of building healthy meals, and they will be given the opportunity to plan a week’s worth of healthy meals.
