BALTIMORE, Md. -- For the 9th year, Kennedy Krieger Institute is marking April’s Autism Awareness Month with its annual ROAR for Autism, presented by CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield, event on Sunday, April 28 at Oregon Ridge Park in Cockeysville, Md. As one of the nation’s leaders in autism research, Kennedy Krieger Institute strives to provide early diagnosis and develop effective treatments for this brain-based disorder.

ROAR for Autism is a bike ride, run, walk, and family fun festival dedicated to raising funds for Autism research and programs at Kennedy Krieger Institute. The 25-mile bike ride and our new 5k run and family fun walk is geared towards families and individuals of all ages and experience levels. The event also offers fun family festivities, entertainment, and refreshments.

The Spectrum of Developmental Disabilities XXXV: The Continuum of Motor Dysfunction

DESCRIPTION

The Spectrum of Developmental Disabilities activity will provide an interdisciplinary approach to the issues of motor dysfunction. This multidisciplinary course will review motor dysfunction, including epidemiology, genetic and neuroimaging issues, diagnostic overlaps, associated dysfunctions, evaluation and management, outcomes and future directions.

Study by Kennedy Krieger’s Interactive Autism Network finds children with autism are four times more likely to wander than their unaffected siblings

(Baltimore, MD) – A new study published today in the journal Pediatrics (Epub ahead of print) found that nearly half of children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) are reported to wander or “bolt,” and more than half of these children go missing.
