Neuropathological Assessment of Neonatal White Matter Injury in Human Autopsy Samples
Our group is interested in the study of perinatal white matter injury which affects thousands of prematurely born children every year and is the leading cause of cerebral palsy in this population. We would like to evaluate human tissue samples for histopathological studies and markers of inflammation as well as growth factors using Western Blot and ELISA analyses. These studies will provide new insights into the pathophysiology of white matter injury and may have great implications on future therapeutic studies. We would like to obtain up to 60 anonymized human brain autopsy samples from the NICHD Brain and Tissue Bank for Developmental Disorders.
