Cross-sectional investigation of reproductive and sexual function, knowledge, and behavior in adults with spina bifida
There is a paucity of data regarding endocrine function, fertility, sexual function, and sexual behaviors among adult patients with spina bifida. This study will help characterize the sexual and reproductive status of this population. We will have subjects complete validated questionnaires which ask about sexual, reproductive, and health-related quality of life issues. We will also ask male patients to undergo non-invasive testing of erectile function, including sexual response to audio-visual sexual stimulation. We will obtain blood samples to evaluate serum sexual hormone levels. When possible we will also obtain semen samples for semen analysis.
