Social Work Premasters Training
Position Announcement
The Kennedy Krieger Institute Department of Social Work offers a field placement in Public Health Social Work and Maternal and Child Health Stipends to advanced Social Work graduate students from graduate schools of social work accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. All field instructors are licensed in Maryland as Licensed Certified Social Workers - Clinical. Training opportunities include work with children, adolescents, and some adults who have neurodevelopmental disabilities. These include mental retardation, cerebral palsy, spina bifida, seizure disorders, head and spinal cord injuries, ADHD, learning disabilities, and other disorders. Settings are inpatient hospital and outpatient clinics, the Kennedy Krieger School, a Therapeutic Foster Care, Adoption and Respite Program, a mental health program, and a home-based treatment program and therapeutic nursery for children with medically fragile conditions.
Training Opportunities
Social Work Premasters Training offers:
- Interdisciplinary training curriculum in neurodevelopmental disabilities
- Weekly clinical rounds in each setting
- Weekly individual field instruction, staff meetings, in-service training in various subjects
- Weekly social work trainee seminars with students in all settings
- Other interdisciplinary training opportunities
