Dr. Sandlers is assistant director of the Biochemical Genetics Laboratory at Kennedy Krieger Institute and a research associate in pediatrics at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine.


Biographical Sketch:

Dr. Sandlers received her doctorate degree in chemistry from the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology. She completed a post-doctoral fellowship in nutritional biochemistry at Case Western Reserve University. Dr. Sandlers has been with the Kennedy Krieger Institute since 2009. She is a member of the American Society of Mass Spectrometry and the Society For Inherited Metabolic Disorders.


Research Summary:

Dr. Sandlers' research is focused on understanding biochemical abnormalities underlying different metabolic conditions, especially inborn errors of metabolism and mitochondrial disorders. Dr. Sandlers research involves GC-MS, LC-MS, and tandem mass spectrometry techniques for development of novel analytical methodologies to facilitate early diagnosis of different metabolic disorders.
