Bands on the Bay 2010
The Chesapeake Bay was brought to life on Sunday, April 25, for the fifth annual Bands on the Bay event. Featuring the sounds of live music, silent and live auctions, and delicious food and drinks, Bands on the Bay is a fundraiser organized by friends and family to honor Jenna Heck, who was diagnosed with Sturge-Weber Syndrome, a disorder characterized by a facial birthmark and neurological abnormalities.
Bands on the Bay was held at Herrington on the Bay in Friendship, Maryland, and included performances by the Doug Segree Band, Orlando Phillips, Jefe, and the Fitzmaurice Band. Special appearances were made by NFL Pro-Bowler Alan Faneca and Maryland lawmakers, including former governor Robert Erhlich. Another highlight of the afternoon was auctioneer Robert Campbell, who entertained the crowd while helping raise funds. The event was a success once again this year, adding to the more than $600,000 previously raised through the event — critical dollars that the Heck-DeCesaris family donated to the Kennedy Krieger Institute’s Sturge-Weber Center to support research and treatment of the disorder.
