Medical Trauma

Workshop Description:
This 1-day workshop will provide an introduction to the traumatic stress response that can accompany injury, illness and medical treatment to youth and their families. This workshop will provide an overview of the key concepts of child traumatic stress and differentiate between normal stress and traumatic responses, with a specific emphasis on the impact of pediatric illness and injury. The impact of developmental stages on a youth’s reaction to traumatic stress reactions will be discussed. Assessment and intervention utilizing the DEF Protocol will be taught.
