After starting out as a department within Kennedy Krieger, Adaptive Equipment Systems (AES) was formed in 1993 is a specialty manufacturer of wheelchair seating and positioning products for Kennedy Krieger's patients. Since 1993, the original Baltimore location has expanded to include offices in San Francisco and Seattle.

AES's focus is on the wheelchair user's need for form, function, comfort, and flexibility. The primary goal of AES is to create products which aid in mobility, increase seated comfort levels and satisfy individual positioning needs.

AES works with seating rehabilitation therapists and specialists to innovate, develop and improve products to meet the needs of patients and care-providers. Manufacturing processes are compliant with international standards ISO9001 and CE.
