Construction Professionals and Kennedy Krieger Students Build Futures Together
| WHEN: | February 4, 2005 9:00 a.m. 11:30 a.m. |
| WHERE: | Kennedy Krieger Lower & Middle School 1750 E. Fairmount Avenue |
| WHAT: | The Baltimore Chapter of the National Association of Women in Construction will introduce students at Kennedy Krieger's Lower and Middle Schools to careers in construction trades. Volunteers will be on hand to offer interactive demonstrations in masonry, painting, dry wall application and electrical work.
In addition to this introduction to the trade, volunteers involved in local construction-related occupations will judge the "Block Kids" competition. Each of the students will receive 100 Lego blocks to build structures related to the construction industry (e.g. homes, hospitals, and schools). The winner of this competition will compete with other Mid-Atlantic winners for an opportunity to advance to the national contest. Kennedy Krieger Institute is dedicated to helping children and adolescents with disabilities, resulting from disorders of the brain, achieve their potential and participate as fully as possible in family, community and school life.
