Kennedy Krieger Receives A Score Of 98 Percent From Joint Commission
BALTIMORE, MD - The Kennedy Krieger Institute (KKI) received a survey score of 98 percent from the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO). This score is a result of KKI's demonstrated compliance with the JCAHO's healthcare standards. Only 4 percent of hospitals surveyed by the Joint Commission received a score of 98 percent or better.
"Above all, the national standards are intended to stimulate continuous, systematic and organizationwide improvement in an organization's performance and the outcomes of care," says Russell P. Massaro, M.D., executive vice president, Accreditation Operations, Joint Commission. "The community should be proud that Kennedy Krieger is focusing on the most challenging goal--to continuously raise quality to higher levels."
"The spirit of the Kennedy Krieger Institute was so apparent to the surveyors," says Gary Goldstein, M.D., president and CEO of KKI. "They were very impressed by the outstanding quality of service we provide, and by the teamwork that was so evident."
Kennedy Krieger Institute is dedicated to helping children and adolescents with disabilities resulting from disorders of the brain achieve their potential and participate fully as possible in family, community and school life.
