Predoctoral Training in Professional Psychology

The Kennedy Krieger Institute’s training program in professional psychology has been a leader in the field of behavioral and pediatric psychology for more than two decades. Since its inception in 1977,it has become one of the most prominent training programs in psychology as it relates to developmental disabilities and pediatric problems. Kennedy Krieger’s Departments of Behavioral Psychology and Neuropsychology are committed to providing a training environment that facilitates the development of future leaders in the field. The predoctoral internship program provides training in applied behavior analysis, developmental disabilities, behavioral pediatrics, pediatric neuropsychology, and family therapy.

Kennedy Krieger is one of the nation’s many programs dedicated to Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (LEND). Administered by the Maternal and Child Health Bureau of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the LEND program ensures that psychologists, physicians, nurses, therapists and other allied health professionals are qualified to address the unique needs of children with special healthcare requirements and their families — maximizing the developmental potential of children and enhancing the quality of life for families.

All Kennedy Krieger predoctoral interns receive their academic appointments through the Department of Pediatrics at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. The predoctoral internship program at the Kennedy Krieger Institute has been accredited in professional psychology by the American Psychological Association since 1988. For more information, please contact APA's Committee on Accreditation at 202-336-5979 or at the Office of Program Consultation and Accreditation, 750 First St., NE, Washington, DC 20002-4242. Our program is a member of the Association of Psychology Postdoctoral and Internship Centers.
